Overview

Salon Rush is a full-service hair, nail and beauty salon in West Bloomfield, Michigan, open since 2013. We designed and built its new website. Every service, price, stylist, photo, review and opening hour comes live from Vagaro, the system the salon already books in, and every “Book online” button opens Vagaro’s calendar on the exact service or stylist.

One source of truth: Vagaro

The site rebuilds from Vagaro every ten minutes — nothing is edited twice.

01 — Challenge

The salon runs its day in Vagaro: the menu, prices, the team’s schedules and every review live there. A website with its own copy of that data goes stale the day a price changes, and a wrong price or a stylist who has left costs trust before the guest walks in. The owners also wanted the site to feel like the salon itself — dark teal marble, gold, calm — with booking one tap away on every page.

02 — What we built

The site reads Vagaro’s MySite API — services, staff, reviews, working hours, facilities and social links — and rebuilds its pages every ten minutes, so a change made in Vagaro reaches the site with no one touching it. Book buttons deep-link into Vagaro’s widget on the chosen service or stylist and open it in a window on the site; stylists who take appointments only by phone get a “Call to book” button instead. Every page opens on a banner with its own crops for phones, tablets and wide screens, and the home page carries a tribute to the salon’s late founder.

03 — Result

A live site with 52 services in 9 categories, 12 stylists with their own pages and more than 200 client reviews, all of it maintained in Vagaro alone. The salon never edits anything twice: a new price, photo or stylist shows up on the site by itself. Search engines see the salon as a HairSalon with its hours, rating and a booking action, plus the full service list with prices.

Services — the full Vagaro menu, by category.
01

The live menu

The services page mirrors the salon’s Vagaro menu: nine categories as accordions, each service with its photo, starting price and description. Nothing is typed into the site — when the salon changes a price in Vagaro, the page shows it within ten minutes.

  • 52 services in 9 categories
  • Photos, prices and descriptions straight from Vagaro
  • A Book online button on every service
Home — six signature services, each one tap from its calendar.
02

Booking in one tap

Every Book button lands on Vagaro’s calendar for that exact service or stylist rather than the full menu, and opens in a window on the site, so the guest never feels sent away. The home page picks six signature services, one per category, from the same live data.

  • Deep links per service and per stylist
  • Vagaro’s widget opens in a window on the site
  • Signature services chosen from live data, not a fixed list
Staff — every stylist with a rating, bio and booking button.
03

The team

Each stylist has a card and a page with their Vagaro portrait, bio, rating and own reviews, in the order the salon chose. Stylists who take appointments only by phone show a Call to book button instead of online booking.

  • 12 stylists with profiles and their own reviews
  • Ratings and review counts from Vagaro
  • Phone-only stylists get Call to book
Home — the tribute to the salon’s founder.

The salon’s look and its founder’s story

The design takes its palette from the salon’s own interior — dark teal marble and gold. Every page opens on a banner with separate crops for phones, tablets and wide screens, and the home page holds a tribute to Veranica Mkrtumyan, who founded the salon.

  • Four art-directed crops per banner
  • Banners stay hidden until fully decoded
  • WhatsApp and iMessage next to the phone number

On a phone the banner, the rating, Book online and the phone number all fit in the first screen.

Key decisions

  • Pages are rebuilt every ten minutes from Vagaro, so prices, photos and the team never drift from what the salon books in.
  • Book links use Vagaro’s own deep-link format, so the guest lands on the calendar of the chosen service or stylist, not the full menu.
  • Structured data describes the salon as a HairSalon with opening hours, its aggregate rating and a ReserveAction, and lists every service with its price.
  • Each banner ships four crops and stays hidden until it has decoded, then the other banners are warmed in the background so the next page opens on a finished picture.
